NCRC Monthly Newsletter – February 2020

CHRONO – Time Trials and Wheel-to-Wheel RACING with NCRC is almost here!

Dear NCRCers,

We had a fantastic first event at Weather Tech Raceway Laguna Seca on the 18th of January! Cool but dry weather led to a fantastic opening event for 2020. Thank you to everyone who came out!

Our next event is going to include our first Midweek Madness day! A day at Weathertech Raceway Laguna Seca for only $189 (February 13th) and back-to-back days for $369, (February 13th and 14th).

Our first Race Weekend of the year will be on
February 29th and March 1st at Thunderhill raceway.  $225 for a single day and $399 for both!
We have contracted with Valkyrie Autosports to provide a much greater foundation on which to build our racing and Chrono series.  As such, I would like to introduce you to Brian Lock from Valkyrie Autosport:

Hi ARC and Chrono Competitors, my name is Brian Lock, and I am the new competition director for NCRC’s ARC and Chrono series.  I couldn’t be more excited to take on this new opportunity and help build a new and exciting series.  I look forward to working with everyone interested in competing with NCRC and help them have a great time on each and every race weekend.

A little about me!  I have lived and breathed racecars and the race industry for 20 years.  I have experience in all levels of motorsports, from club racing and track days, to professional road racing competition.  I have built cars, driven cars, and managed teams for series such as IMSA/Grand Am, USTCC, NASA Super Touring, NASA Endurance Racing, and Redline Time Attack.  I plan on using this experience to help serve the NCRC customer to the best of my abilities, and provide a fun and competitive atmosphere that emphasises fun and close competition.

A little about the rules:

We know you have a lot of options on the west coast for competition. Our mission statement and intent when writing our rules was to create a competitive environment that allows the widest possible demographic of racer to compete for a win.

Some production/touring car series out there have gotten exceptionally expensive, while others don’t have a competitive ruleset and rely on bracket racing style groupings. ARC and Chrono aims to hit a mark in the middle of those two extremes. We wanted to create a real ruleset based on a cars peak performance potential in a given power to weight, while closing loopholes and cost creep commonly associated with open rulesets. Any questions or if you need clarification on any rules, don’t hesitate to email Brian at
brian@ameriacnracingclub.com!

MENTOR PROGRAM

Don’t forget about our Mentor Program, which will see a pool of Open and Point-By drivers who are willing to sit shotgun with Driving School students for their first two sessions to help show them the line. Mentors will receive a $50 credit towards their next event. We are compiling a list of drivers who are interested and are aiming to start February 29th at Thunderhill.  We have already had a great response but are looking for a larger pool of people!
