NCRC - General FAQ
A NCRC membership is $40 a year, but is NOT required to participate in our events.
However, with a active membership, you will receive a discount between $10 and $50 per event.
You can sign up for membership in the Customer Area
Membership must be purchased prior to booking the event to receive the discount. Discounts cannot be applied retroactively.
Your membership is good for any group(s) YOU drive during an event . Please do not purchase slots for others at the discounted rate.
Our cancellation policy is set up to refund as much money as possible to the participant while covering our costs for spots that can not be resold.
Cancel 30 Days or more before the event - 97% Refund (Covers CC Fees)
Cancel 29 to 10 Days before the event - $25 cancellation fee, remaining entry fee refunded
Cancel 9 to 3 Days before the event - 50% of the entry fee will be refunded
Cancel 2 days or less before the event - No refund
Events normally will run rain or shine, but NCRC reserves the right to cancel an event due to issues beyond our control (driver registrations, weather, safety issues, track related issues).
Your payment cannot be transferred to another event, that's a "cancel this one and add another event".
Event Start time is considered to be 12:01am
For two day events, Start time is 12:01am of the first day
Yes, you may sell your entry to a friend as long as he/she drives in the same run group as you, or we have space in another run group. There is no fee to resell your entry, and you may do this all the way up until the event. If you want to offer your spot for sale, we recommend posting it on the Facebook group NCRC Racing.
To make the transfer the NEW PARTICIPANT must fill out the NCRC Event Transfer Form
When a run group is full, you will have the opportunity to place your name on a waiting list. Follow the normal booking procedure and the waiting list option will be presented to you.
You are placed on the waiting list in a first come first serve basis. If you cancel your spot, then rejoin the waiting list later you will be placed at the bottom of the waiting list.
Once on the waiting list, if a seat becomes available, the 1st person on the list will automatically be notified via email that a seat is open for registration. Once the 1st person receives the notification, the seat will be reserved for him/her for one hour. After each hour, the next person on the waiting will be notified and have the opportunity to register. If no one on the waiting list registers, the seat will be made available to the general public again.
After receiving the notification that is seat is available, you will be able to register that seat at any time until someone else has registered it. You should register your seat immediately upon notification as it may already be open to someone in front of you on the waiting list.
If you refer a new driver to NCRC, and that driver signs up for any event, both YOU and the NEW DRIVER will receive a $25 credit.
To apply for the credit, either you or the new driver must fill out and submit our Refferal Program Form
A new driver is anyone who has not participated in an NCRC event in the last 5 years.
The Referral Program Form must be submitted by the time the gates open on the day of the first event the new driver is attending
Credits will be applied to both accounts after the completion of the event
If we have space, then yes we'll put you in. But this is not a work-around way to get in from the wait list. If a run group is full, we won't put you in unless we have a known no-show. So there's a good chance you wouldn't get in. We charge the non-member price at the track, and will take cash, credit card, or check.
Absolutely.Go to the event registration page and sign in or create a new account. Once signed in go to the "Customer Area" and select "Purchase a gift Voucher," then select the amount of the gift. After completing the purchase you will be able to email or print out the Gift Voucher and give it to whomever you choose.
When used, if the Gift Voucher does not cover the event's total cost, the user will be prompted to pay the outstanding balance. If the Gift Voucher is more than the event's total cost, the remaining balance will be applied to the users account and will automatically be applied to the next event he/she registers for.
As a general rule, no.
The best advice is to read your policy carefully, and check with your insurance company for specific information as necessary.
We also suggest looking into "Track Day Insurance" carriers who are in business specifically to insure cars at track events, and recommend Lockton Affinity. They will provide individual event coverage for our Driving School, Solo, and Point-By groups, but not the Open group or any timed car (TT or Race). Contact them directly for a quote.
It is your responsibility to ensure that you do not drive in a group where the insurance policy does not cover you.
NCRC does have limited helmets for rent. Currently, they can be reserved when registering for an event in Driving School or the Solo Group. If you need a helmet outside of these groups, please email us at info@americanracingclub.com.
A SNELL SA-10/15 (preferred) or M-10/15 (acceptable) or newer helmet is required for anyone in the car. The helmet must cover the ears as a minimum (no motorcycle "shorty" helmets), with a closed faced helmet being preferred, but optional (required in open cars).
We do not rent cars, but there are companies that do rent cars and have them available at the track for you. Some of them are listed on our Partners and Sponsors Page
Sorry about that!

NCRC - OPEN TRACK DRVING
You don't need to bring any paperwork for the event. Once at the track, you'll be asked to sign a waiver at the gate, and you will receive a packet with a schedule, wristband, and track pass at the end of the mandatory drivers meeting.
You must bring appropriate clothing. Typical non-race clothing is jeans and a t-shirt. Shorts or tank tops are NOT allowed. You must also bring a helmet. NCRC has a limited number of helmets available for rent.
You're also responsible for the preparedness of your car. A Car Prep Checklist is available to help you decide what needs to be checked and repaired. Ensure your car is in good working order before coming to a track event. We do not require a tech sheet to be brought to the track, nor do we have an Annual Tech process.
The NCRC Driving School is intended for a complete novice driver with no prior track experience. The focus of the school is on safety and learning the driving protocols more than driving technique. There are five track sessions for the school, the same as for the other Open Track groups.
The school consists of three classroom sessions with two corresponding track exercises, followed by three additional open track sessions. The exercises are on driving the line and passing. There are no instructors in student cars; instructors are on track in their own cars helping with the exercises. We talk about driving techniques in the classroom sessions, but do not have specific on track exercises on braking, apexes, shifting, etc.
Any car in good working order will function well on the track. We do require that cars be in good visual condition as well, and do not allow "project cars" with missing body panels, body damage, primer, etc. We do not allow SUV's or other vehicles that will not handle safely on a track, but certainly a well-maintained street car is acceptable. Check the car requirements for more details.
The Broomstick Test is used to see if your convertible's rollover protection has any chance of working. It's easy to check at home, and you should be prepared to be checked by the stewards at the track:
- Put your helmet on and sit in the driver's seat of your car
- Lay one end of a stick on top of the windshield, and the other on top of the roll hoop or bar behind your seat
- The top of your helmet must be lower than the stick to pass the test
NCRC offers a Safety Equipment Reimbursement Program for cars and drivers that cannon pass the broomstick test. You can read more about it here.
Two drivers may of course use the same car and register independently for two different run groups. Equally, one driver may bring multiple cars, and run them in the same run group for different sessions.
Open Group may share one car with multiple drivers for the purpose of testing. ALL drivers must be capable of driving in the Open Group.
Point By Group may share one car with TWO drivers only. Both drivers must be capable of driving in the registered group.
Driving School, Solo, and Chrono groups may NOT split seat time with another driver.
In no case may a multi day discount registration be shared among drivers.
There are no costs associated with any of the scenarios above.
You may have a passenger in the Chrono, Open, Point By or Solo group.
Passengers are not allowed in the Driving School unless they are providing instruction. No passengers are allowed in the ARC Race Series.
Anyone on track must be 16 years or older, and wear a helmet. From 16 to 18 years of age, the passenger must have a parent or guardian at the track and sign a special release.
There is no consensus on group names across clubs, and even if you did match up the group names, there can be a big difference between an "advanced driver" in one club versus another. Our Open group has a reputation for being harder to get in to, and faster than many other club's advanced groups, for example.
Our nomenclature as well as the required qualifications to get into each group, and the process for moving up groups, is described here.
